When you’re struggling with a mental health concern or addiction, finding the right level of care can be life–changing. At East Tennessee Behavioral Health, we offer a full continuum of behavioral health programming for adolescents, adults, and seniors that is designed to help people get on the path to a better, brighter future.
Programming Overview
If you don’t receive appropriate support, the effects of a mental illness or addiction can be highly disruptive to nearly every aspect of your life. By working with professionals who understand how to address your specific needs, you can learn to manage the symptoms that have been so distressing.
At East Tennessee Behavioral Health, we offer a full continuum of behavioral health programming that meets a wide range of needs:
- Inpatient program – Acute crisis stabilization services for adolescents, adults, and seniors
- Partial hospitalization program (PHP) – An outpatient day program serving adults
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP) – A highly structured outpatient program offered for adults
The programming that is available at our facility in Knoxville, Tennessee, supports people who are suffering from mental health concerns such as anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, and behavioral concerns related to dementia.
We can support someone who has a primary diagnosis of an addiction if they are struggling with opioid use disorder. If someone has an addiction to another substance, they must also have a primary diagnosis of a mental health concern.
Everyone who receives care at East Tennessee Behavioral Health follows a plan that we tailor specifically to them. By addressing each person’s unique needs, we can help them set the groundwork for lasting healing.
Our Inpatient Program
The inpatient programming at East Tennessee Behavioral Health provides crisis stabilization services for people who are suffering from severe, persistent symptoms of a behavioral health concern. We offer four inpatient units at our Knoxville, Tennessee, facility based on age and concern:
- Adolescent unit for ages 13-17
- Thought disorder and dual diagnosis unit for adults age 18 and older
- Mood disorder unit for adults age 18 and older
- Geriatric unit for seniors
The goal of inpatient treatment is for a person to regain enough emotional stability to step down to a lower level of care or safely return home. For this reason, most people remain in our adolescent and adult inpatient programs for about seven days, while seniors typically remain in our geriatric inpatient program for about 10-12 days.
However, everyone heals at their own pace, so we evaluate each person’s progress individually to determine when they’re ready to transition to the next phase of their healing process.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program
Also known as day treatment, the partial hospitalization program at East Tennessee Behavioral Health serves adults age 18 and older and is ideal for those who have just completed an inpatient program and are stepping down to a lower level of care.
Our PHP is also an excellent option for people who don’t need the round-the-clock care of an inpatient program but can still benefit from more intensive therapy than they would receive in lower levels of care.
You can expect to take part in PHP services at our facility in Knoxville, Tennessee, every day for about six to eight hours a day. Everyone has different needs, so the average length of program participation varies from person to person. Our expert team will monitor your progress throughout your time in our PHP, working closely with you to decide when your time in this program is complete.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program
The intensive outpatient program at East Tennessee Behavioral Health offers care for adults age 18 and older, giving them a more flexible outpatient option than a PHP while still providing greater structure than they would receive through traditional outpatient therapy.
Patients who participate in intensive outpatient programming at our facility in Knoxville, Tennessee, typically receive services for three hours a day, three to five days a week.
The time a person spends in our IOP will depend on their individual progress. To determine when they are ready to move on to the next phase of their healing journey, we assess how each person is doing based on the goals they’ve set with their care team.
Living with a mental health disorder or addiction can make you feel hopeless, but with the support of the experts at East Tennessee Behavioral Health, you can rediscover just how beautiful life can be.
